LIGHTHOUSE VIII
MYSTIC SEAPORT LIGHT, CONNECTICUT
Order No. 074
HISTORY: The Connecticut coast is dotted with narrow
inlets, and many famous ships sailed from the small sheltered ports
on the eastern shore at Mystic, New London and Stonington. Today
Mystic is foremost among the old whaling towns in maintaining its
historic maritime connections. The restored Mystic Seaport welcomes
thousands of visitors and hosts seminars on the age of sail. Its
lighthouse, a copy of Nantucket’s Brant Point Light, lies 2 miles
upriver from Noank at Mystic’s whaling harbor. (Notes taken from
The Ultimate Book of Lighthouses by Samuel Willard Crompton
and Michael J. Rhein.)
STITCHING INFORMATION: Stitch count:
158 stitches wide x 111 high. Our model was stitched in a 15"
x 11" piece of white 18-count AIDA fabric. To use a different
type of fabric or different AIDA sized fabric, give the stitch count
to your fabric store and they will help you select the correct amount
of fabric to complete this design. Our threads were carefully chosen
to depict the actual colors of the lighthouse to give it the most
realistic appearance possible.
