ADMIRALTY HEAD LIGHT

HISTORY: Admiralty Head Light was one
of the first lighthouses constructed on the West Coast. . It overlooks
Puget Sound with a wonderful view of the Olympic mountains. Constructed
in 1860 it is made of brick and stucco with walls 18" thick
to withstand local earthquakes. The tower had to make way for the
development of Fort Casey needed to strengthen defenses during the
Spanish-American war. In 1903 it was rebuilt on a high bluff using
a 4th order Fresnel lens with a 120' focal plane. The lighthouse
was deactivated in 1922 and the lens can now be seen at the Interpretive
Center.
The keeper's house was constructed in 1902. It is two-stories high
and built in the California Spanish style. This lighthouse is now
part of theWarshington State Parks system and is a museum open to
the public.

Our model was stitched on a 15" x 15" piece of white 16-count
AIDA fabric.
