CAPE HENRY LIGHTHOUSE, VA

HISTORY:Old Cape Henry Lighthouse was
first commissioned in 1790. It stood 72 feet above the water table
and was built of stone. The light used various oils and finally
changed to kerosene after the discovery of petroleum in PA in 1859.
During the Civil War, the lantern was destroyed by Confederate raiders.
It was back in operation by 1863 and was protected by the military.
By 1872 the old tower was crumbling and a NEW cast iron tower was
built in 1881. The lighthouse is opened to the public.
STITCHING INFORMATION: Stitch count:
98 stitches wide x 156 high. Our model was stitched on a 13
x 7 piece of white 14-count AIDA fabric. This design can be
adjusted to any type of fabric. A large color photo, stitching instructions,
