NEW LONDON HARBOR LIGHT

HISTORY: New London Harbor light is located
on the west side of the Thames River. It is the 4th oldest light
station in the nation and the 7th oldest lighthouse. It was first
lit in 1801 and is still operational. It was automated in 1912.
The tower is brownstone with a bricklining. The tower is octagonal
in shape and is 89' tall. It presently has a 4th order Fresnel lens
which was installed in 1857. The first tower at this location was
constructed in 1761 of stone. The U. S. Coast Guard owns the tower
and the New London Harbor light is an active aid to navigation.
The two-story keeper's quarters were built in 1863 of brick. It
is presently a private residence.

Our model was stitched on a 15" x 16" piece of white 16-count
AIDA fabric.
This design can be adjusted to any type of fabric.
